Dr. McDaniel is a native of Oklahoma. He gradated with honors from East Central University and received his doctorate from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Oklahoma State University.
Dr. McDaniel completed his surgery residency training in 1995 at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. He is board certified in general surgery, a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and a SRC Certified Center of Excellence Surgeon.
Dr. McDaniel is the Medical Director for the Citizens Bariatric Center. He has extensive experience with advanced laparoscopic weight loss procedures. He performed the first laparoscopic gastric bypass operation in the Crossroads area in 2000. Dr. McDaniel currently performs laparoscopic gastric bypass, laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, and laparoscopic revision surgery.

STEVEN T. HOUGEN, M. D., FACS

Dr. Hougen (pronounced "How-Gun") has been a surgeon in Victoria since 1985. He is a graduate of the University of Texas in Austin and the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed a general surgey residency at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts followed by a vascular surgery fellowship under the direction of Dr. Michael DeBakey at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Hougen performed his first open gastric bypass operation in 1980 and has followed the evolution of bariatric surgery for over 25 years. He is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and has served as the Chief of Surgery at Citizens Medical Center. Dr. Hougen has a particular interest in the laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding procedure. He is the director of an advanced fluoroscopic band adjustment clinic.
