About Citizens

Since 1956, this progressive, major Medical Center has helped Victoria earn the reputation as one of the best places to live in America for quality health care. With over 1,300 employees, Citizens plays a major role in the rapidly growing South Texas economy.

Our Mission: "to provide quality medical services at a reasonable cost to the citizens of the region".

As a not-for-profit, community-owned hospital, Citizens financial resources stay in the community, and are reinvested in the hospital, its technology and its people.

Located conveniently in the “Crossroads", the City of Victoria has a population of around 85,000. Citizens Medical Center's service area includes the surrounding counties, with a referral population of 140,000.

The caregivers at Citizens Medical Center are most likely friends or neighbors. The medical staff consists of 210 physicians representing 34 medical specialties. The Medical Center's commitment to quality was recognized in 2005 by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations with a three year accreditation award with a Gold Seal of Approval.
